This past week the entire 7th grade class went to an overnight trip to Frost Valley in the Catskill Mountain region of New York State to learn about how NYC gets its drinking water and ways to protect it. Students were able to test the pH level of the water, understand the relationship between water quality and working forested landscape as they hiked around the region of the Neversink reservoir to see how more than 75% of the New York City watershed is forested. With below freezing temperature and a couple of inches of snow on the ground, it didn’t prevent anyone from having fun and being a part of an memorable experience!
