The 6th grade classes embarked to Governors Island to learn, engage, excite, and educate about all the aspects of urban farming. The GrowNYC Teaching Garden at Governors Island features over 20 vegetable beds made from recycled plastic lumber, farm-style rows, an outdoor kitchen, a greenhouse, fruit trees, several rainwater harvesting systems, a rain garden, and much much more. Not to mention afterwards, the students got to go down Slide Hill and the Swing and Hammock playground. It was a great experience shared by many students.
