6th graders took a trip to the Urban Garden on Governors Island — a little slice of green paradise right in the middle of New York Harbor! They explored the garden, got their hands a little dirty in the soil, and even tasted some of the plants grown right here in NYC. Who knew purple prickly pear cactus could taste so yummy.
After all that learning and tasting, it was time for the real workout — the playground! There was running, laughing, and approximately 800 trips down the big slide (because once is never enough). By the end, everyone was part farmer, part explorer, and part professional slide enthusiast.
