On Wednesday, May 31st the 6th grade traveled to Coney Island and the New York Aquarium. Students collected animal behavior data in an ethogram. They were investigating the question, “How does species of Pinniped affect the surfacing frequency?” Half of the students collected data on sea lions and half collected data on harbor seals. In math class they are analyzing the data. In addition, students viewed the penguin and shark exhibits. In the afternoon students enjoyed the beach and boardwalk.
